幼い頃から、ガラクタを拾い集めてヘンテコなものに変身させたり、どうでもいいような小さなお話を作ったりすることが好きでした。
大人になってからは、イラストレーター、造形作家など、本に関わる仕事をしてきました。
人間の一生は変身の連続です。でも、これから先の変身についてはちょっと気が重いぞ、と考えていた頃、「変身III（仙人）」が降りてきました。
書いている時はとても愉快な心持ちで、以前はこんな作品は書けなかったなあ、としみじみ感じました。その年齢ならではの話があるものだと。

Humans, animals, plants—everything changes with the passage of time. And within that passage, each has a story of its own.
The book brings together six stories filled with gentle pathos, featuring a variety of people and objects as their protagonists, accompanied by illustrations and images of sculptural works.
Ever since I was a child, I have loved picking up discarded things and transforming them into strange little objects, as well as inventing small, seemingly insignificant stories.
As an adult, I went on to work with books as an illustrator and sculptor.
A human life is a continuous process of transformation. But just when I was beginning to feel a little uneasy about the transformations still ahead of me, Transform III (The Hermit) suddenly came to me.
Writing it was such a joyful experience. I found myself thinking, with some wonder, that I could never have written a story like this when I was younger. I realized that there are stories we can tell only when we reach a certain age.

Change, change, and not change.
What does it mean to change? Just as things change over time, such as when morning turns to night or when an egg turns into a bird, some things also change in meaning depending on the perspective. A T-shirt with an M logo becomes a W when you stand upside down, your fingers become a ruler when you spread them out and measure their length, and if you cut a hole in a cardboard box and look up from inside, the hole looks like a full moon. And what is the truth that you arrive at in the end?
